What to Expect at Quaker Worship
|
Quakers believe that every person can directly experience the divine nature of the universe without the need for clergy, creed, or dogma. Syracuse Friends Meeting is an unprogrammed Quaker Meeting within the Religious Society of Friends. Unprogrammed means we worship without a minister or priest directing the service and without a sermon or a prearranged liturgy. Instead, we sit together in “living silence,” waiting quietly and expectantly for the Light Within to prompt a Friend to offer a brief message or reflection. Sometimes we simply spend the entire Meeting for Worship in sacred quietness. In these short videos, Friends from around the country talk about Quaker worship. . . |
