Right Sharing
|
As Friends, we seek a just, peaceful, and sustainable world in which all people can flourish. Yet we live in a world marked by deep inequalities between those who have material abundance and those who cannot meet basic needs. As American Quakers, we recognize how much of our own abundance has come to us—not through hard work, good fortune, or divine blessing—but through skewed economic structures, systemic racism, gender/sexuality discrimination, military might, and a careless disregard for the earth. Today many people are working with care and generosity to address these injustices. In a spirit of partnership, Syracuse Friends Meeting makes it our practice to provide financial support to such organizations. We call our practice Right Sharing. To us, Right Sharing is a spiritual practice rooted in Quaker testimonies. It invites us to respond with openness, not fear; to value partnership, not power; and to seek change beyond charity. |
